How to Move Money

We are a credit union, but that does not mean we can’t be your bank. In this series, “How to Bank at Triangle” we will share posts with practical information such as how to join, make deposits, and move money. We will also answer our members’ “frequently asked questions” gathered from in-branch feedback. No matter what your financial needs are, you’ll find a point on the Triangle that is convenient and accessible; truly a better way to “bank.”
After getting money into your account, the next function vital to managing your funds is to move your money. You may wish to transfer funds to a higher yielding account, transfer to your child’s Kids Club membership, transfer funds to and from accounts you hold at other institutions, or even pay someone directly from your account using our Popmoney service.
Transferring within your own accounts held at Triangle is very easy to do; simply access the Move Money tab within online banking, access our phone banking service, TARA, visit anyone of our ATMs, or stop by your nearest branch. Be advised that Reg D restrictions apply to transfers made outside the branch and also that our online savings account has limited branch access.
To transfer funds to your child’s Kids Club account or to another member’s account, you can do so in branch or online. To do so online, however, you will need to connect the membership for cross-member transfers. We will typically offer this service at any in-branch account opening. If you opened your account online and would like to establish this, simply give our contact center a call and they will be happy to assist you further.
To establish external account transfers, the most affordable and convenient option is to connect your accounts within online banking. To do so, simply login to Online Banking, hover over the “Move Money” tab and click the “External Transfers” button. Select “Transfer Between My Accounts” and then follow the prompts. Note that we will be sending nominal deposits that you will need to verify and that this process takes about 3 business days. So, if you need the funds sooner you will need to determine alternate means, such as a wire transfer.
If you ever find yourself needing to split a bill, send money to a friend, or pay your babysitter and you’re out of cash, we offer Popmoney. With Popmoney, found within your Online Banking in the transfers section, you can pay anyone at any institution within the U.S. using their email address, mobile number or account information.
Visit a Branch
